I just discovered this guy who’s putting up BFBC2 vids via the related links box on my empty servers video. He doesn’t do commentaries by the looks of things, but if you like Battlefield Bad Company 2 then check him out – and if you like his vids, show him some love and subscribe.
ooogbilly is his channel, and here he is getting sweet sweet revenge on some Rush spawn killers:

Something I just noticed while watching this back is that BigPresh (Silent Dave) was actually in this game as well – on our team but in another squad. Although thinking again, I reckon I realised this at the time as well and even attempted to warn him later on in the game when an enemy Medic dropped down behind him only to realise that he couldn’t hear me as he was in another squad. I got the revenge kill though.
On this base I was in fun mode, going for defib kills and being a general pain in the ass for most of the time. When you’re on defense, as long as the M-Coms are safe you can afford to throw your K/D out the window and John Rambo it for a while.
Unfortunately the PVR froze up mid way through this base, and just before I got my second defib kill! We did win the match as they ran out of tickets and our team was actually amazing at defending and disarming the M-Coms. The match was played a couple of days after the Ogga Ug patch came out, but I still managed to use the Carl G against infantry with no problems when they were down to about 3 tickets left. A nice juicy rocket kill was close to being the final kill.
It was a fantastic game and I’m looking to getting many more.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this series.

As is usually the case, just as I make a post saying that there are no interesting search topics a bus load rolls in. They’re not particularly earth shaking in their content, but they do represent queries that I think I’ve touched on in other posts, but not necessarily covered properly – and now post patch BFBC2 means that some subjects need to be revisited.
These queries are lifted straight from the search results:
Query: “can i stop people from joining my squad”
Yes….. and no. When you start the game, choose “Play With Friends” and then click Create Squad. You’ll now be in your very own squad, and you can either invite your friends, or head to a game on your own – but people on your Friends List will still be able to hop in to your squad. So you can stop random people joining your squad but not your friends.
Query: “can you get in trouble boosting in mw2”
Officially, anyone found to be boosting/hacking will be banned by XBL or PSN. In reality this doesn’t happen. Personally I’d prefer it if Chuck Norris kicked in your door and round housed you in to next week for being a pathetic douche. But life isn’t perfect so losers will continue to boost and ruin the games of those people who actually want to get achievements and attachments by *gasp* achieving them properly.
Query: “how do you lock on with the carl gustav?”
The Carl Gustav and RPG-7 both have the ability to lock on to a tracer dart. So the first thing needed is a traced vehicle (or soldier). A traced vehicle or person will have a red square reticule on it (similar to the one you see when using a stationary AT or the AT-4) you need to aim your CarlG/RPG-7 at the red square until a distance appears in white letters. When you see this you are locked on and can fire. The rocket will fire by the directest route – so if there are any obstacles in the way (including your own team) your missile will hit them instead of the target. Although once locked on you can shoot over or around obstacles. This video shows the tracer gun pre-patch hence leading the chopper. You then see him shoot ‘around’ the terrain to get the heli kill:
Query: “bfbc2 tracer dart how to use/tracer how to use dart in bfbc2”
Since the patch the tracer dart moves much faster in BFBC2 now so you no longer need to lead the vehicles as much as previously. The dart is now probably on a par with the speed of a sniper rifle round (anyone got any advances on that notion?), but still has no gravity pull/drop off. When you successfully trace a vehicle/person you’ll get the notification on screen and some points….. and then even more points if that vehicle/person is then given a heavy dose of RPG PAIN!!!!
Query: “bfbc2 how to get c4 on assault”
In order to use C4 with any other kit than the Recon Class you need to use an All-Kit weapon. If you’re starting out then these will be shotguns, but later you will be able to access the M1A1, M14 and G3 rifles.
Query: “bfbc2 no voice comms”
…. erm, not sure what this query relates to. But if you can’t hear anyone then either no one is speaking (most likely) or you have the game voice turned all the way down.

This is part two of the three. In this video we almost hold them off, but unfortunately Bravo is destroyed by Destruction 2.0. You also get to see me get killed twice after being weakened from falling damage as I can never get the bloody parachute to open properly.
StoneFaceLock’s strategy guide for this map helped me out with the placement of mines. Prior to this game I had been pretty much a Carl-G whore, but with the mines you don’t have to stay alive for them to work. The only thing you have to do is remember how many you have out as you can only have six active at any one time. If you put down a seventh, then the first one you put down disappears. By running the explosives upgrade specialisation I got to carry six – normally it’s three (I think).
Not really much else to say – banana bullets, shot in the back, fall damage, boomerang grenades…. they’re all in there. Oh, and I don’t know why Alpha wasn’t defused….

Donncha, Mike and I attempt to hold off the enemy horde on Arica Harbour in this three part video. In part one here Mike and I take control of a tank and attempt to stop the enemy from proceeding in to the base. Although we succeed in doing that the base is ultimately destroyed because of a miscommunication on our squad and a complete lack of interest from the rest of the team.
Prepatch, if you used the M60 (Medic kit), especially with Magnum Ammo then you ran the risk of being labelled a “noob”. It never happened to me, despite my much documented desire to abuse the M60 for all it was worth before the patch nerfed it. Mike suffered the abuse for using the M60, but then he seems to get abuse no matter what weapon he uses…..
One thing he’s commented on a couple of times in game is that since the patch came out he’s noticed MORE people using the M60. I don’t think I play as much as Mike so can’t really say how statistically true this is, and I don’t pay that much attention to who kills me with what. But one thing is for sure – the M60 has not been patched as strongly as expected. This can be seen from the following post patch stats from Den Kirson (I love you Den):
Stats from Den Kirson's site (Link above)
As you can see, despite lowering the top and lower base damage stats the M60 still has the highest damage per bullet in the Medic class. Admittedly, it does have the lowest fire rate, but considering the increased spray inaccuracy that has been introduced with the patch this is a minor issue as bullets still have to hit to count.
Effectively, this means that the M60 is STILL the most powerful Medic gun which means it is STILL in the realms of noob-dom (if your thinking is that way inclined).
So to all those people who deliberately handicapped themselves and their teams by refusing to use the M60 prepatch in the misguided notion of FPS honour, but are now using it: You noobs!
To everyone else – your job is to win. Pick up the most effective and deadly combination you can, get in the helicopters, get in the tanks, saddle up a heavy MG and annihilate the self harmers. If you receive messages proclaiming your noob-dom, make sure you thank them for watching your victory via the kill cam.
It’s just a game, play it YOUR way.

Unfortunately the title doesn’t refer to some new brand of extra spicy roasted peanuts (mmmmmm peaaaanuuuuts). It refers to my exact thoughts when I discovered that the amazing game of Rush on Arica Harbour we played as defenders only partially recorded.
At the end of the game I noticed that the PVR had locked up, but hoped upon hope that it hadn’t affected the recording….. today, when I pulled the file off the recording machine to chop it up for commentating (it was an awesome game) I find that it ends at the third base. It didn’t just end at the third base, it ends at the third base just before I get another defib kill! Damn you hoghug! Why do you hate me when I only show you love!?
I’ll probably still commentate bases one and two as we did a pretty good job, but were let down by not defusing the crates. Lesson to be learned there methinks….
Anyhoo, it did record some great moments for me to mess about with…. like this one:
Should have teabagged him as well for uber-douchery.

Who remembers Choplifter? While getting my links ready for this post I discovered that it was a computer game before an arcade game which is quite unusual. It wasn’t until after I played it in the arcade back in the 80’s that I then played it on the C64 (I think it was the Commodore). My older brother introduced me to it, and although it was yet another game that I wasn’t particularly good at I enjoyed the concept of being a rescue pilot dodging death in a hot LZ.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 now allows me to relive the 80’s in glorious 3D HD but with a much more immersive experience than pumping my ten pence pieces into an ungrateful gaming cabinet that would reward me by shooting me out of the sky with a tank – an event that is not only illogical, but also pretty ludicrous.
I like piloting the helicopters in BFBC2, although the one you come across most often is the BlackHawk which means that unless you have an ace gunner on board you’re not going to get many points for being a glorified taxi driver. However, the points don’t matter when you’ve got a tidy squad with you and you use the helicopter as a troop transport and mobile spawn point:
Effective use of the Blackhawk can allow you to quickly out manoeuvre the enemy, spot their positions or provide a distraction and/or covering fire while your team get the objectives secured and quickly flank areas that would be difficult to approach by land.
I’ve finally completed my first, erratic, commentary. Whoever thinks commentaries are easy should try it. Generally, I’m not much of a talker – to read some of my posts you wouldn’t think it, but I don’t yap on to anyone and everyone who’ll listen. So speaking over nine minutes of gameplay was initially an impossible task for me. There were a couple of problems: 1 – the actual talking, 2 – what to say, 3 – er, um, ah, and general messing up.
In the end I recorded the commentary as a series of “sound bites” that lead in to each other. So I’d say one thing. Stop recording, consider what I’m saying next the record that. In all there were 20 soundbites making up the nine minute commentary. So I stay coherent for roughly 30 seconds at a time. There are a couple of points in the commentary where my words a bit incomprehensible….. but I left them as to re-record those snippets would have lost the “moment”.
The gameplay itself is nothing special. It was literally one game that I played purely to get footage for the commentary. I turned the PS3 on, went in to the game – played less than a minute of a game in progress and this was the next round.
There were people joining and leaving fairly constantly, but I tend to find that in SDM as it seems to be used more as a waiting room until other people are on. I decided after initially using the assault kit to try out the VSS recon kit that I’d just unlocked. The VSS has quite a lot of kick and it took a while to get used to it.
When I made a run for the tank about half way through I was sort of hoping for some support from my team. You can hear engineer silenced rounds hitting the tank as I get in. Unfortunately for me there were three enemy in the immediate vicinity, and one of the was using the explosives upgrade which meant the tank was destroyed before I could get even one kill with it.
I was using my mortar strikes to target areas where the enemy were likely to be, but only got one kill with destruction 2.0. Ultimately I went 10 – 9 which, although positive, is a pretty poor showing for me on SDM. Really I should have run engineer or C4, but I’m trying to level up the Recon kit and want to get more kills with the mortar strike. Still, that’s not really an excuse. Well, maybe it is. Or not.
The final video was edited down from a full 25 minutes. Initially I was going to show each death/respawn, but even after taking out all the spawn delays and boring campy bits the video was still 16 minutes long – at least 5 minutes longer than the YouTube limit. I had to take out a number of death/respawns and various other events to get it within time.
The above stats are from the bfbcs.com stats site that has previously been mentioned by Donncha and reminded to my by Mick. This is just a very small part of the stats it lists for a player, but it was these Team stats that particularly interested me.
But the stats don’t lie. I do worse defending than attacking. I knew this before looking at the stats (and if you’re a regular reader you’ll know that I love stats) but as with all statistics they are never quite as clear cut as they appear. Yes, I lose more games on defense, but that is because the first game that I’m spawned in to will be as defense on a fairly lopsided team where the chances of winning are already slim. As a single player, even if I was the best player, I can’t be everywhere at once and without team backup I cannot single handedly successfully defuse and disarm every bomb plant. So if I spawn into a game such as that then it’s a loss from the get go.
Considering the paltry amount of points you get for a disarm compared to a kill – 30 points for a disarm, 50 for a kill – you can’t blame some people for preferring to maintain a healthy K/D rather than go for the win…… personally I prefer to win, which is why I always attempt to defend and disarm a station – especially if one has already been destroyed.
Then I stay in the game because none of my usual gaming buddies are online and I’m too lazy to leave. We get on to attacking and win. Hooray. Then lose again on defense. Then the usual suspects log on and we win win win. But I’m already -2 on the Win/Loss which cannot be recovered unless I decide that I’m only going to play when I’ve got a full squad to trounce the opposition with.
It’s not going to happen. When I’m not in a friend squad I use the time to play around with ludicrous kit combinations that I would never use in a proper game. I wouldn’t want to mess up my friends stats because I fancied playing for C4 only kills, or counter sniping with the RPG-7. I’ve never taken gaming seriously enough to give a toss about my stats. Yes, I do like a nice K/D – but that’s for me, not to put on my CV or to use as an ice breaker in awkward social situations (it would probably make an awkward social situation even worse in most cases….).
So the stats tell the truth, but not the whole picture.
